Getting On The Right Track.

It seems like as quick as summer came upon us, it is leaving is just as quickly. Schools are starting up again, the weather is cooling down, vacations and summer barbecues are slowly coming to an end and it’s time to start getting back into a regular routine. Maybe you started slacking off over the summer, staying inside more because it was too hot or eating a lot of bad foods at the neighborhood cook-outs. It’s not so easy once you slip out of your workout routine or off a healthy diet to get back on track but what better time do so then before the holiday seasons start to creep up on us.

I know what you’re thinking, isn’t it a little too soon to start talking about the holiday seasons? Not really, time gets away from us so quickly and before you know it you’ll start digging into that halloween candy, the Thanksgiving turkey and all those Christmas goodies. They say it takes at least 21 days to make something a habit. If you start now, you will set yourself up for success so that those slip ups that are bound to happen in the up coming months won’t make such a big impact on your health.

So how do you start? Baby steps. Start taking more walks. It’s cooling down outside so make the most of the time you have left to enjoy this nice weather by going out before dinner, or on your lunch break. Fill a gallon jug of water and mark off how much you should drink every hour. They even have apps for your phone that can help remind you to drink. Find yourself a workout buddy and start going back to the gym. A great way to stay on track with your diet goals is to make pre-made meals at the begining of the week. Often times as 10593213_704420516295619_4812597721451170542_nour life starts to get busy, between getting the kids to school or after school activities or being busier at work, we get too tired to make a healthy meal for ourselves or for the family. Making meals at the begining of the week when you have more time and freezing them will allow you to stay on track and make sure your not just heating up something processed or ordering take-out.

Taking the right steps now before you start getting too busy and slip into hibernation mode as the weather changes and the days get shorter will make all the difference when you’re in need of more energy. It will also help you not have to make such drastic changes when New Years comes around and you’re making your resolutions. Don’t wait, get on the right track now!
